Butterfly Rising

There once was a girl who wanted to fly
Yet her world was mostly black
Full of violence, fear and dark skies.

She longed for life's beauty
And the magick within found
She sang despite the blows
She stood despite the broken bones

The girl was not afraid to face the darkness inside
She knew burying her wounds wasn't healing
But denial wearing its dreadful mask

She had witness the contradictions of those around her
They wanted peace but not the journey within
They wanted magick but no the pain it takes to heal
They wanted masks and ignorance
She wanted life in all its splendor and rawness

"It will cost you" life whispered
"I am ready to pay the price" was her reply
Like a caterpillar life wrapped its arms around her
And perched her cocoon among the sacred trees

She was buried within a cocoon of woven pain
The pain of transformation
Were warriors are raised

For what seem a long time, she was left there
Until one day the fragile butterfly emerged
Vulnerable was she, yet her spirit had been revived
She had earned her wings
Facing that which most would rather not

She had climbed the mountain
From which free spirits see the world
"What a view" she thought.

Her eyes had been opened
Although naΓ―ve at times
Blindness no longer lives there
But the strength and magick of life

She now spreads her wings
Exposing all her colors....
light and dark
She is no longer afraid
She is life's butterfly.
